Joining a group
For students — join a seminar group with your account, or run the simulator as a guest without one.
Your teacher invites you to a seminar group with a link or a QR code. Opening it shows "You're invited to a seminar group" with the group's name and two ways in: with an account, or without one.
Who sees your runs
Before you join, the page tells you plainly: by joining, your interview transcript and evaluation become visible to this group's teacher. Simulations you run outside the group stay private.
With an account (recommended)
If you're signed in, press Join — if Edustories doesn't know your name yet, a quick "What's your name?" prompt asks for it first, so your teacher can recognize you (there is no other onboarding to go through). If you're not signed in, the invite page offers Create a free account or a sign-in link; after signing in you come back to the invite.
Joining grants you the group's credits once, and you can start simulating right away. With an account you also get:
- Your history — every run is kept under My simulations, with its evaluation and transcript.
- Run it at home — your group credits work from anywhere, not just in class, and your teacher can grant you more remotely.
- Resuming — an unfinished conversation can be picked up later.
Simulations you run for the group use the group's enabled languages and are paid from the group's credits (see Credits).
Without an account (guest)
Press Continue without an account, enter a Name or ID (only your teacher sees it, so use something they'll recognize), and the simulation setup opens immediately. Guest mode is built for a seminar room: no sign-up, straight to the interview.
The trade-offs, as the page itself lists them:
- The simulation works only on this device — attempts don't transfer.
- You have a fixed number of attempts (the group's per-student amount), shown as "Attempts remaining" above the setup.
- There is no history — each evaluation is shown right after the run ends, then you can Start another attempt while attempts remain.
- Once you've used all attempts, you'll see "You've used all your attempts. Ask your teacher for more, or create an account to continue at home." Guests can't be granted extra credits, so continuing means creating an account.
- Your teacher still sees your transcripts and evaluations, under the name you entered.
If the group is closed
A closed group shows "This group is closed to new members." — nobody new can join, and guests can't start further runs. If you joined with an account before it closed, your remaining credits still work from the simulator.
